Take Me There and To be Here

Imagine standing at the top of a hill on a beautiful warm summers day, looking across the land towards the sea, across the purple heather and yellow gorse, the rich orange ploughed fields and the misty mauve mountains in the distance. Feeling the sun warming your skin and the landscape healing your soul. The landscape is healing us, the brightness of nature bringing a sense of wellbeing and joy.
“It was at that moment, on the hill, I could look back to see how far I’d come”

Take Me There and To Be Here

Imagine standing at the top of a hill on a beautiful warm summers day, looking across the land towards the sea, across the purple heather and yellow gorse, the rich orange ploughed fields and the misty mauve mountains in the distance. Feeling the sun warming your skin and the landscape healing your soul. The landscape is healing us, the brightness of nature bringing a sense of wellbeing and joy.

I visited Stratford Mental Health Unit during lockdown 2020 to see the space and to begin to think of how I could approach a colour scheme and concept to create welcoming and uplifting artwork.

Shortly after my visit I went away for a few days and during this time I went on a very long and tiring walk. On this beautiful day I walked slowly, uphill for hours and hours to reach my destination – the top of a hill.

It was that moment, on the hill and looking back to reflect on how far I had come are the moments I’ve tried to capture in these artworks.
